History of CBOA Patna Zone
CENTRAL BANK OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION (CBOA), PATNA ZONE, is the majority officers’ organisation in Patna Zone holding about 70% officers in its fold. It is a non-political organization. It is an organization of the officers, by the officers and for the officers. It came into existence on February 4, 1992. It was formed by a small section of officers under leadership of Sri Niranjan Sinha, President and Sri Hari Prasad, General Secretary. The duo-leaders struggled hard, led the officers’ movement in a long way and brought the Association in a majority shape. During their seventeen years’ tenure, the Association witnessed many ups and downs. Association has to launch a number of agitational /organizational programmes during this period. Major happenings were merger of officers of BSCBOU with this Association in the year 2001 when 300 officers joined the organization and brought it in absolute majority and later on demerger of the said organization in the year 2003 when few officers parted with on some ideological differences. Association kept on serving officers and marching ahead under new leadership of Sri R S Kumar as President and Sri Akhouri Arun Kumar Singh as General Secretary since retirement of erhestwhile President and General Secretary in 2008/2009. Association is celebrating this year as“20th Anniversary Year - Year of Achievement
* To organise and unite all officers of Central Bank of India in the Zone.
* To protect the interest of officers in the zone
* To protect the self-respect, prestige, dignity and status of the officers.
* To provide defense to member officers in departmental inquiry against them.
* To extend all type of support to its members in case of need.
* To co-ordinate other like minded unions in our banks and other banks to strengthen officers movement
* To carry out programs/instructions of the parent organisations.
* To hold meeting, seminar and work shop to educate our members, to develop cadership and future leadership
The Association has introduced a Benevolent Fund Scheme under its welfare activities. The salien features of the scheme are as under:
v The scheme is effective from 1st January, 2010.
v Every participant will have to contribute Rs 2000.
v No interest will be payable on this contribution.
v Free Accidental Insurance Coverage of Rs 2 Lakh to participants.
v Free health check up periodically at regional centers.
v Rs 500 will be reimbursed in every 5 years for medical check up of the participant.
v Rs 50,000 will be paid to the kith and kins of the participant, if dies in harness during his service period – Rs 25,000 immediately at the death and balance Rs 25,000 in 10 monthly instalments of Rs 2,500 through post- dated cheques.
v Membership fee of Rs 2000 will be returned back at the time of superannuation/ ceasation of services of the participants.
v Other beneficial clauses may be added in case of growth in membership.
Besides, Associaion holds occassionly Blood donation camp, health Check up Camp and conducts charity programmes under its obligations to the society. It is also patronaging Retired Bank Officers' Association in our bank.
It has got published books on Wage Revision and Second Option for Pension.
